Cable Beach in Nassau, Bahamas

Cable Beach is one of the great vacation beach destinations in the Caribbean.  The beach is so fantastic not just for its beauty and cleanliness, but also the many things to do throughout the day.  We have vacationed in a number of different resorts along Cable Beach over the years, and each trip has been truly unforgettable.

Cable Beach is located in Nassau, Bahamas, and is a quick 10 minute drive from the Airport.  The flight in to the Bahamas is so beautiful, it will take your breath away.  You can start to see the islands in the distance as your flight approaches the Bahamas.  And as the plane starts its final descent to the airport, you see this stunning blue and green water that will get your heart racing.  It is just so gorgeous and breathtaking.

After a short cab ride you will arrive at your resort on cable beach.  We have stayed at a number of these resorts over the years, and the Wyndham and the Sheraton are two at the top of the list.  We spend most days of our trips on the powder bank of Cable Beach.  The beaches there are truly beautiful, and they keep them impeccably maintained.  The sand does get very hot in the summertime, but it’s what I call the good hot!  There are many activities on the beach, to include snorkeling and hot dog boat rides.  We get bounced around the entire time and feel like you’re ready to fall off, but somehow you’re able to stay on the boat.  It is quite exhilarating.

The Powder Bank in Seaside

Seaside is in the panhandle of Florida, and not far from Pensacola.  Seaside’s powder bank is among the most impressive in Florida.  What makes it truly unique, is that it is one of the few beaches in Florida that has a sloped bank (especially in the winter).  And yes, that bank is absolutely full of amazing powder sand and many memories waiting in the wings.

For years we spent Thanksgiving weekend in Seaside, and would take long walks in the morning on the beaches.  And even though the water was always quite cold in November, you would still see surfers attacking those Gulf waves.  The beach walks were always so impressive because the sand was so soft and powdery, that you could mistake it for snow.  And always so clean – just beautiful.  You may remember the stories of black tar on these beaches from the oil spill, but fortunately those problems are far behind us as shown below:

The beaches in the panhandle Florida are very different than the rest of the state.  They don’t have many areas of hard packed sand where you can ride or even jog.  But there are plenty of other things to do in this kind of sand, such as a great game of volleyball, or just laying down and soaking in the sun.

Welcome to Powder Bank!

Welcome to PowderBank.com!  This site is everything beaches, and what I like to call the powder bank!  Ever since I was a young girl, my family and I have spent every free minute, most vacations, holiday weekends, wedding receptions, family portraits, Thanksgiving breaks, and more, at one place…the beach!

I have grown up with such a love and respect for Mother Ocean.  Even when I cannot get to the beach for weeks and months due to work and life, I often daydream of lying on that powder bank soaking in rays.  I feel the balmy trade winds coming off the sea, and I feel that soft, warm sand on my body.
